Meet Science Fiction Author DCS

DCS-AuthorDCS is batshit crazy.  (Bet you’ve never read an author bio that started like that have you? Mwhahaha).

I know I look completely normal in this picture.  Stare deeper into those Scorpio eyes (Scorpio is my astrological sign) and you’ll see the makings of a lunatic.  I’m okay with that though.  Apparently you are too because not only are you visiting The Mind of DCS, you’re reading my bio.  So, you’re curious.  Let’s get down to bidness (yes, bidness).

Favorite author: Dean Kootnz.  Favorite Book: Phantoms.  Favorite TV Show(s): Battlestar Galactica, Farscape, Fringe.  Favorite movie: Aliens, Star Wars Return of The Jedi, Star Wars The Force Awakens. Favorite video game is a tie between Civilization 5 and Dragon Age Inquisition.  Favorite Pen: Uni-ball vision elite purple.  There’s usually one clipped to the front of whatever shirt I’m wearing.  Yes I am geeky like that. I have a dog, a Siberian husky named Angel.  He is awesome.

I was born the glorious day of November 19th, 1980.  I make every attempt to celebrate the entire month, not just the day when it’s birthday time.  When I was growing up I wanted to be a lawyer.  I went to college intending on staring my studies with a degree in Political Science and then trekking off to law school.  What actually happened was that I had way too much fun not going to class, and after a year UNCC politely asked me not to return.

After that, tail between my legs, and facing the disappointment of my mother (which sucked, trust me you wouldn’t want to disappoint my mother either) I stepped into the work force and started a career in Records Management.  Now, I come from a business minded family, it’s in the blood you could say.  I love creating things, and I enjoy managing the strengths and creativity of people so I like business and I’m good at it. I absolutely frakkin hate corporate America.  I could have made a very nice living in that cesspool but circumstances moved in such a way that I got an opportunity to take myself seriously as a writer.  I grabbed onto it, and I haven’t looked back.

It was a moment where my life was horrible and I decided that if I was going to change I needed to change my thinking that Synarchy really came to life.  I don’t just want to entertain you, when you read the last page of the Awakening, or finally close the book on the Ascension, I want you to take some idea of how to step out of the mundane and into the magic of your reality.  We live in exciting times, and the Synarchy series is meant to pull back the veil and show the world to you in a way that’s never been done quite like this before.  I’m proud of that claim.

Nothing makes me happier than writing.  I will get lost in my creative worlds for days on end, and woe be it the person who doesn’t know how to properly disengage me from my universes.

The Synarchy Series is my flagship.  Two are written. More are on the way.  They are science fiction (which is awesome) but a bit on the genre crossing side with some mystery, thriller, and romance thrown in.  But my schizophrenia knows no limits so fans of my work can also look forward to a Fairy Tale for Adults, and if you’re a comic book fan you can catch my writing over at DarkBrain Comics.  I have written episodes for Church of One, The Butcher (one of my favorites) Pissy Pussy, and coming soon titles like The Witches Three (another of my favorites) Envoy 82, and Church of Two.

If that wasn’t enough (and it’s not) I am also an avid chatroom, text based, free form role-play.  I love, love, love, interacting with other storytellers and RP is just so much fun.  I have learned so much about my characters through their interactions with others. I’m currently Roleplaying over in The Secret World MMO.

Speaking of gaming, come Game with An Author! Join me every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday at 5PM EST on my Twitch TV Channel, We Play Games On Easy. I stream mostly Bioware games, such as Dragon Age and Mass Effect.

And if that wasn’t enough (and it’s not) I am also a radio show personality.  I have two radio shows both over on the Public Service Network. One is the brain child of myself and my good radio announcer friend Julie “Plucky” Myers we call Women in Hoodies. We are live every Sunday at 9 am PST / 12 PM EST.  The other I was asked to join by a good friend and owner of the PSN Network, Angel “Tha Jackal” Espino and is called Skywatchers Radio. We are live along with The Other Guy every Wednesday night at 11 PM EST.

The last thing you need to know is that I and the brilliant indie producer/director Aaron Williams are turning The Synarchy universe into a TV Show.  We shot a promo for the series that you can view here. I’m so excited to be able to share the message and the story behind the books with a wider audience I get giggly every time I think about it.

So there you go. The cliff notes of DCS.  No, I won’t tell you what the D stands for.
